Christmas 2024 in review

Our first retail roundup looked back at Christmas 2024: the festive work we helped bring to life and the displays that caught our attention. Looking at the season together is useful because it shows how packaging, promotion and presentation can support the same shopper occasion.

Making room for pets in the festive shop

For Pedigree, DREAMIES and Whiskas, we redesigned festive packaging and gift packs, with creative to support the activation. The project gave familiar products a seasonal role and helped shoppers recognise them as part of Christmas gifting. The case study explains the work in more detail.

Celebrations for different retail environments

Our Celebrations Christmas work included retailer-specific activations for Tesco, Asda and Co-op. The useful planning question is how to keep a recognisable campaign while making each execution relevant to its setting. Retailer formats, available space and the message at the point of purchase all deserve attention.

What caught our eye

Theatrical vehicles appeared across the displays we reviewed. We also noticed permanent airport units using lighting and digital screens to present products. These examples give us questions to take into a new brief: which elements help identify the brand, and what does the format make possible?

Planning the next festive brief

Start with the shopper occasion: gifting, sharing, entertaining or adding a small treat to the shop. Then decide what the pack, display and promotion each need to communicate. A seasonal theme becomes more useful when it gives the shopper a clear reason to choose the product.
