We designed, produced and installed an exhibition for Leicester’s King Richard III Visitor Centre, introducing visitors to the people and events surrounding the Wars of the Roses.
The brief
The exhibition needed to explain the Houses of York and Lancaster and the conflict around Richard’s rise to power. It would set the scene for visitors before they continued into the wider attraction.
A visual introduction to the story
Our in-house illustrators created portraits of key figures, using historical paintings as reference. An oversized house of cards became a central feature, representing the fragile political landscape and giving the exhibition a strong physical focal point.
Materials and specialist making
We worked with local fabricators on replica weapons and armour, adding physical detail alongside the illustrated story. A fabric-textured print surface supported the exhibition’s visual treatment, connecting the graphic design with the character of the setting.
What we delivered
The project combined exhibition design, illustration, printed materials, physical structures and specialist fabrication. Our work ran from design through production and installation, bringing the separate elements into a coordinated visitor experience. The finished environment gave the illustrated story a physical setting, with portraits, objects and structures forming parts of the same exhibition.
